In week 29 of our 52 Weeks of Chic, we learn the art of the Ask.
Do you want something but not sure know how to get it because you don’t know “How?”
Do you postpone starting because you have no idea where to even begin?
This week we are saying goodbye to trying to figure out the “how.”
Why? Because that’s not our job. That’s God’s job.
Our job is to inquire – to ask – for guidance and then obey His answer fully trusting He will never lead us astray.
Before ever going into battle, David first went to God asking (“Shall I go”) and then for instructions (“Where shall I go?’) and “the Lord answered.” 2 Sam 2:1
David didn’t try to figure out everything on his own. He asked God for a plan and God delivered.
All David had to do was obey God’s instructions and trust Him to reveal the next step until the goal was won which in David’s case was defeating his enemies.
“… David inquired of the Lord. “Shall I go up to one of the towns of Judah?” he asked. The Lord said, “Go up.” David asked, “Where shall I go?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered. 2 Sam 2:1
“Once more the Philistines came up . . . so David inquired of the Lord, and He answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”So David did as the Lord commanded him . . .” 2 Sam 5: 22-25
David asked, he listened, he obeyed and he won.
He didn’t try to do it his own way and he didn’t do it alone.
God not only answered and provided the how but He also led the way (“out in front”).
This is how David succeeded and this is how you and I succeed.
We ask, then listen, obey and walk in faith knowing He’s with us and leading the way with each step.
We don’t have to try to figure out “how.” God has done that for us.
All we have to do is ask and then take the first step.
