When Hope Seems Lost
Day 3: We Trust
Trusting God in the middle of our madness is challenging.
Society doesn’t encourage trusting God. In fact most of the news only fuels our fears and increases our anxiety levels.
And what does trusting God even look like?
If you’ve ever travelled by plane you know from the moment you board you are relinquishing full control to the pilot trusting in his expertise, skills and knowledge to get you safely to your destination.
While you pray for smooth flying you know there’s always a chance of turbulence but are relaxed having full confidence the pilot is a well trained expert at navigating these conditions.
So instead of spending the entire trip fighting anxiety you’re just imagining all the fun you’ll have once you arrive at your destination.
That’s trust.
Trusting God is to calmly settle in your seat, fasten your seatbelt of hope and let Him take you where you want to go and excitedly begin anticipating all the joy and goodness that awaits when you finally get there.
You can relax because you’re confident He knows the best route to take and will get you through turbulent times and rough weather.
If we can trust a complete stranger to take us thousands of feet into the air via a man-made machine then how much more can we trust in our Creator to carry us safely through sunny seasons and horrific storms to our final destination of eternity with Him?
I will remind you of what He has to tell me often “ Trust Me. I’ve got this.”
So, exhale and rest knowing your Father is in complete control fully capable of seeing you through whatever storm you are weathering.
And what do we gain by fully trusting in God?
Peace and not just any peace but PERFECT peace. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isa 26:3
And what do we lose by fully trusting Him? Fear. “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.” Ps 112:7
So today let us place our trust in Him. Because “ . . . He knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.” Job 23:10

Word Wisdom
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. Ps 118:8
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him.” Ps 28:7
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jer 17:7 – 8
“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” Ps 9:10
