Love Is: day 1

Welcome to February’s devotional entitled LOVE IS.

For the next five days we will allow the scriptures to paint a portrait of love. It only seems natural to begin with what’s often referred to as the “love chapter” which is 1 Corinthians 13.  Paul provides a clear, distinct definition of love, what it is and is not.

Christ instructs us to love God with our full being (heart, mind and body) and others as ourselves, cultivating self-love then so love can be shared.

To genuinely love others begins with loving God and yourself.

It’s a challenge to pour from a leaking vessel.  An unhealed heart is like a cracked cup that struggles to hold its contents.

God is the Potter and we are His clay.  Only He can repair the vessel, seal the cracks with Christ’s shed blood and fill it with Himself who is the embodiment of Love.

As we begin this study, let us start with a healed heart which is readily available simply by asking, today, right now in this moment.

Love is grace based, power packed, life changing and the perfect portrait of God Himself because He is love. It is lavished upon us, filling us, replenishing us and stands ready to forgive, heal, comfort, guide and counsel us through every season and storm of life.

Word Wisdom

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! . . .” 1 John 3:1

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Heb 4:16

I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love.  Eph 3:17 NCV

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8
