Welcome to The First Three Days, the TCC monthly devotional for 2022.
If this year you choose to focus on growing in the three areas we are studying in this devotional, I’m confident it will be a year you won’t soon forget.
Solomon said “a wise woman builds her house but a foolish woman tears her’s down.” Prov 14:1
We will always be building or demolishing whether we realize it or not.
So how do you build your house? You begin with laying a solid foundation of Wisdom, Words & Work.
Wisdom is the most valuable treasure you could ever own. Words will make your year magnificent or miserable. And the Work we’ll be referring to is simply “inspired action” to back up your faith for whatever you want to see this year.
Our professor for today’s class is King Solomon, David and Bathsheba’s son.
Let me add that if you ever want to know exactly how to succeed in any area of your life literally, just study Proverbs. Theologians call it the “Book of Success” for a reason. It covers wealth, health, relationships, retirement planning, daily living and tons more.
So how do we find this rare treasure called wisdom? It’s so simple most people can’t believe it. We just ask. That’s it.
James says “ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5. It doesn’t get any clearer than that.
But why bother getting wisdom? What are the benefits?
Wisdom invites blessings into your life and will produce a profit unlike any earthly investment can. Gold, silver and the like fluctuate in value and are dependent on a worldly economy.
Wisdom is constant, always producing returns in any economy. It’s kingdom investing vs worldly investing. One guarantees a return, one can’t.
Wisdom is the path that leads straight to what you want and opportunities that open doors to what you didn’t even know you wanted but are so glad you discovered.
The key to peace is wisdom. It’s the fountain of youth we never think to drink from.
When you walk with wisdom you have a 24/7 guide available when faced with choices, big or small.
Ask for daily wisdom to dine on along with your daily bread.
We are always building our houses, the lives in which we live or we are tearing them down sitting in the rubble of a life we don’t want.
This year I encourage all of us (myself included) to partner with wisdom and let her oversee the construction of all we build this year. Let’s get started.
Because wisdom is only an ask away and ours for the taking if we choose.

Word Study
Blessed is a person who finds wisdom, And one who obtains understanding. For her profit is better than the profit of silver, And her produce better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, And nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are those who hold on to her. Proverbs 3: 13 – 18
Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not abandon her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your possessions, acquire understanding. Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty.” Proverbs 4: 5 – 9
